Hamtramck Board of Education reorganizes, recognized for Board Appreciation Month

The Hamtramck Public Schools Board of Education held its annual reorganization 
and regular meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026. As part of School Board Appreciation Month, trustees were formally recognized for their dedication and service to the district.

Interim Superintendent James Larsen expressed his gratitude during the meeting, acknowledging the trustees’ ongoing commitment to Hamtramck students, families, and staff. In recognition of their service, trustees received Hamtramck Public Schools-branded gifts from the district, along with an official recognition resolution from the Wayne County Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) Board of Education. 

The resolution had been presented and adopted on December 17, 2025, by the Wayne RESA Board, honoring the vital role school board members play in public education.

The president of the Hamtramck Public Schools Board of Education ,
Abdulmalik Algahaim, extend his sincere appreciation for this recognition and continued support. “Our board remains committed to serving as dedicated public stewards, working collaboratively to strengthen our schools and uplift the entire Hamtramck community” .
