Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has extended the stay-at-home order through June 12. The decision came Friday afternoon and extends the closure of places of public accommodation like gyms and libraries.

Ousted Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will be released early in a move that’s meant to shrink prison populations during the Coronavirus Pandemic. Kilpatrick was found guilty of embezzling funds from the City of Detroit seven years ago.

Bars and Restaurants in Northern Michigan have officially been able to open while following Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s restrictions. Other businesses have been told to start preparing for reopening by developing a Coronavirus re-opening plan that is readily available for employees and other interested parties.

Michigan has reported a total of 53,913 cases of COVID-19. The state of Michigan also has seen 5,158 deaths related to COVID-19 complications. Wayne County reports 63 new cases of COVID-19. The total number of COVID-19 cases for Wayne County is 19,734.
