Wayne County Officials say that the County is expected to lose $152 million in revenue for the second half of the 2019-20 fiscal year. The operating costs of the county surpass a $1 billion, making this a heavy burden for the county. The revenue loss is connected to the economic toll from the COVID-19 Crisis.

Police and Health Officials in Lansing have countered a statement made by Gov. Whitmer, saying that last week’s conservative-led protest – Operation Gridlock – did not block ambulances from entering Sparrow Hospital. Photos of ambulances navigating deadlock traffic, however, have been circulating on social media for the past week.

Beaumont Hospital system is set to lay off around 2,475 employees and permanently eliminate around 450 jobs. The excess strain on Detroit-area hospital systems have increased operating costs since the start of the COVID-19 Crisis.

The US Oil market crashed after Oil futures, a predetermined trade agreement to buy oil on a future date, went into negative prices. The price dive came after a Saudi-led oil overproduction and a massive decrease in demand because of COVID-19.

Michigan has reported a total of 32,967 cases of COVID-19. The state of Michigan also has seen 2,700 deaths related to COVID-19 complications. Wayne County reports 210 new cases of COVID-19. The total number of COVID-19 cases for Wayne County is 14,293.
