Riverside Academy Staff
On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, Dr. Manal M. Assi and Mrs. Abtasam Shohate, ESL teachers at Riverside Academy West, held their 9th annual Thanksgiving Feast for newcomers and their families. Part of the school s and the ESL department s mission is to help students acclimate to the American culture and feel a sense of belonging. In addition to teaching newcomers about the history and current American culture, the school has the honor of hosting the newcomers first Thanksgiving. During the event, the school Principal, Mr. Ramzi Saab, welcomed the parents. The ESL teachers gave a brief introduction, followed by Hussam Alkoli, a student, narrating the story of Thanksgiving. Newcomers enjoyed a delicious feast among their family, peers, and school personnel. The event ended by breaking the wishbone!
