Select Secretary of States in Michigan have begun a pilot program which offer over-the-phone interpretation services. These secretaries of states hope to collect as much usage data as possible during the pilot stage, which will be ending in July. They encourage folks to utilize this service, which will help them tremendously, especially when they make the case for expansion to all branch offices.

The following statement was released to The Yemeni American News:

The Secretary of State’s over-the-phone interpretation provides on-demand interpretation in over 200 languages for non-testing branch transactions, at no cost to customers!

Residents who schedule an appointment or walk-in to one of our pilot Secretary of State branch offices may request an interpreter at the counter and will be prompted by branch staff to point at their preferred language using an iSpeak card provided at the branch office (I attached the card for reference). Branch staff will then call and connect with an interpreter within 1-minute. Once connected with the interpreter, branch staff will dial-in the customer on their phone for three-way call interpretation.
