DEARBORN, Mich. — Dearborn Public Schools will be closed until April 5, 2020, in order to reduce the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

In the interim, Dearborn Public Schools announced they will be continuing to provide support for families needing food assistance, with further details to be announced on Monday, March 16. DPS is also preparing for online learning environments to continue education for students during the time school is out.

Dearborn Schools Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maleyko said on his official blog, “We plan to publish a plan for our students in the near future. Our team has been working diligently to come up with options for elementary, middle and high school students.”

Events are being canceled as well, with this weekend’s SAT test canceled, as well as the Dearborn High School tin can raffle.

Since some families may not be connected to the internet and prepared for an online learning environment, those needing assistance with internet access during the pandemic are being offered a free two month access to Comcast’s internet essentials program, and they can sign up on a separate website set up for this situation during the pandemic.
