Hamtramck High School FIRST Team competed at Center Line First Robotics District Competition in a gruesome 2 day long battle. The competition which had a strong list of 40 teams battled for their chance to make it to the top. After 12 qualification matches, Team 123 (Cosmos) came in 4th place! When the cosmos were asked to partner up with the number 1 ranked team the cosmos accepted. In the elimination matches the cosmos defeated the number 8 alliance, moving on to the semifinals. The semifinals proved to be tough as the cosmos battled hard and were ultimately defeated by the number 4 alliance who went on and won the event.

Team 123 was awarded the “Innovation in Control Award” sponsored by Rockwell Automation. The award was given to the one team in the entire competition who have an innovative control system or application of control components that provided unique machine functions. “This team dominated defenses with stellar controls. Drawing on their vast experience, they kept their eye on target and engineered an out of this world robot. Their innovative intake control is light years ahead of the competition. With a whole team behind them as supportive as can be…” That was what the judges had to say about Team Cosmos.

Michigan has a total of 411 FIRST teams. 102 of those teams will advance to the First Robotics Competition State Championship event. Hamtramck High Schools Team 123 will be 1 of those teams. Not only did they place into the state championships Teams Cosmos will be 1 of the Elite groups out of the 102 teams.

Mark you calenders and come support Team Cosmos at the state championship April 13-16 in Grand Rapids Michigan at the DeltaPlx Arena! We had a great amount of support in the crowd, as well as some past Team 123 members cheering for their home team!
