Last week, we received the unfortunate news of the passing of pharmacist and philanthropist Mohamed Hamzeh, owner of the Southend Hamzeh Pharmacy after battling sickness for more than two years. “Dr. Hamzeh” as dubbed in the Southend was known for his professionalism, humbleness, and down-to-earth personality with his customers. Publisher Rasheed Alnozili said that late Dr. Hamzeh was more than a pharmacist to many who visited his pharmacy. “He was always helping with humanitarian and civic causes in the community where he was praised by everyone who worked with him.”
Dr. Hamzeh’s funeral was held at the Dearborn Mosque and buried in the nearby Woodmere cemetery, less than half a mile away from where he spent most of his adult life, at his Southend Pharmacy.
