{"id":7670,"date":"2026-04-21T17:02:05","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:02:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yemeniamerican.com\/en\/?p=7670"},"modified":"2026-04-21T17:02:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T21:02:08","slug":"ice-impacts-immigrant-families-even-if-theyre-here-legally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yemeniamerican.com\/en\/ice-impacts-immigrant-families-even-if-theyre-here-legally\/","title":{"rendered":"ICE impacts immigrant families\u2014even if they\u2019re here legally\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>YAN<br>WDET\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent study shows that some immigrant families in Michigan remain in constant fear because of the Trump administration\u2019s ICE raids.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.clasp.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Law and Social Policy<\/a>(CLASP) found the crackdown has disrupted the lives of immigrants regardless of legal status.&nbsp;Researchers say children and parents are missing doctors\u2019 appointments and other routine activities over concerns that ICE could arrest them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Elizabeth Gonzalez is an organizer with the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.congressofcommunities.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Congress of Communities<\/a>&nbsp;in Southwest Detroit.&nbsp;She says ICE agents showing up at schools and childcare centers&nbsp;affects&nbsp;kids needing educational opportunities. \u201cWe depend on our Head Start centers and our Head Start programs. Unfortunately, enrollment has dropped due to parents and children being scared of ice surrounding centers and schools.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But Gonzalez has a message for the community: \u201cEstamos unidos para proteger a nuestros ni\u00f1os.
