{"id":5074,"date":"2021-05-20T09:36:18","date_gmt":"2021-05-20T13:36:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/yemeniamerican.com\/en\/?p=5074"},"modified":"2021-05-20T15:10:06","modified_gmt":"2021-05-20T19:10:06","slug":"dcfc-womens-section-opens-the-season-with-2-1-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/yemeniamerican.com\/en\/dcfc-womens-section-opens-the-season-with-2-1-win\/","title":{"rendered":"DCFC Women\u2019s Section Opens the Season with 2-1 Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Simon Albaugh \u2013 Yemeni American News<\/p>\n<p>HAMTRAMCK, Mich. \u2013 Keyworth was up in arms as the Detroit City Football Club Women\u2019s Section stormed into a victorious season opener, beating out Muskegon Risers Soccer Club 2-1.<\/p>\n<p>This game is a first time for fans and the newly formed DCFC Women\u2019s Section to get to know each other. After a few games without the fans, due to COVID-19 concerns, the first game for the section welcomed a full troupe of supporters \u2013 complete with a drumline and confetti for every DCFC goal.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s side to Detroit City Football Club <a href=\"https:\/\/www.detcityfc.com\/news_article\/show\/1052671\">was announced late in 2019<\/a>, with the teams start set for May of 2020. With the start of the pandemic in March of last year, DCFC\u2019s supporters were left supporting the team from elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce they announced the women\u2019s side, we got really, really, really excited to be able to have that,\u201d said Joe Novak, a member of the DCFC Supporters. \u201cOf course, when COVID hit, and we couldn\u2019t come out to support them, that was a huge disappointment. The game-winning goal was scored by Marlee Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fact that we can finally support a women\u2019s side to go along with the men\u2019s side is really important,\u201d Novak said. \u201cLike, my daughter, I\u2019m excited to have her be able to see women in that way, and she can watch that.
