Manufacturing began again today as hundreds of thousands of workers returned to their jobs. This is what Gov. Gretchen Whitmer considers phase 3 of her 6-phase plan to return Michigan’s economy to operation. According to Gov. Whitmer, this will put around a quarter of the economy back into business.

The city of Detroit also will be bringing back 150 to 200 employees over this week. The workers will be inspectors, lawyers, housing repair, among other roles.

The state of Michigan will also begin a process called “Contact Tracing” which will allow public health professionals to track the infections anonymously in order to understand what portions of the open businesses will be more at-risk than others.

Michigan has reported a total of 47,552 cases of COVID-19. The state of Michigan also has seen 4,584 deaths related to COVID-19 complications. Wayne County reports 118 new cases of COVID-19. The total number of COVID-19 cases for Wayne County is 18,326.
