HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – Hamtramck Public Schools will be hosting a State of the District event on today at 4:30pm, with administrative officials from the district speaking on the present and future of HPS services.

Hosted by Superintendent Jaleelah Ahmed, speakers will give reports on the financial health of the district, services for students and families, and catering to stakeholders of HPS. Directors of Human Resources, Finance, Student Achievement, English Language Development and Student Services will speak in addition to Superintendent Ahmed.

The past year has been a stressful one for many of the institutions in Hamtramck. However, while students and staff were forced to adjust to online learning over the course of the pandemic, there seemed to be a promising message from Michigan Governmental Bodies.

Last week, Governor Whitmer signed $4.4 billion of COVID-19 aid to school districts throughout the state of Michigan. For Hamtramck, that means a start on much-needed repairs to district buildings, as well as bolstered after school and extracurricular activities.

The event will be broadcasted through Facebook, but viewers will also have the opportunity to attend the State of the District event at the Hamtramck High School Community Center. Masks are required for in-person attendance.
