Dearborn and Hamtramck Voters Vote for City Council on Nov. 4


Nov. 4 is election day and many communities across Michigan are voting for local leaders, including representatives for city council. Voters in both Dearborn and Hamtramck will cast their ballots for city council members as well as other leaders and ballot measures.

In Dearborn, voters will select seven candidates for city council. These candidates include:

● Mubarek Ahmed

● Othman Ali Alaansi

● Kamal Alsawafy

● Mark Andrew

● Sharon Dulmage

● Gary Enos

● Mustapha Hammoud

● Shadi Mawari

● Devon O’Reilly

● Ahmad Othman

● Ken Paris

● Michael Sareini

● Mohammed Shagera

Dearborn voters have three voting options:

1. Vote early: Complete and cast a ballot early between Oct. 25 – Nov. 2 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

2. Vote with an absentee ballot: Request and return an absentee ballot on or before Election Day. Ballots can be mailed (postage is prepaid) or dropped off at the City Clerk’s office.

3. Vote in person on Election Day: Voters can cast a ballot at their designated polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day.

In Hamtramck, voters may choose three candidates for city council. The Hamtramck candidates include:

● Yousuf Saed 

● Motahar Fadhel 

● Abdulmalik Kassim 

● Luqman Saleh 

Three voting options are also available to Hamtramck voters:

1. Vote early: Early voting will be available for nine (9) consecutive days prior to the election at the 2nd floor of Hamtramck City Hall from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

2. Vote with an absentee ballot: Absentee voter ballots and applications can be dropped off at a 24-hour drop box location at Hamtramck City Hall located in the front driveway or the vestibule. Absentee ballots can also be returned by mail (postage is pre-paid), or in person to the City Clerk’s Office.

3. Vote in person on Election Day: Voters can cast a ballot at their designated polling place between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Election Day.
