Seaking host Family for yemeni exchange Student
Youth For Understanding, a non-profit high school exchange program is looking for host families for exchange students coming in August for the 2010-11 school year. Families provide a place to live, meals, and loving encouragement. All kinds of families host: with and without children at home. Interested families in the metro-Detroit area can call me for information. The families should speak English as their predominant language within the family.
One boy who needs to be placed in the metro-Detroit area is a young student from Yemen who has been selected to receive a YES Scholarship from the U.S. government.
Send me a message (kilkka@yfu.org) if interested in receiving more information about Hameed:
Hameed, 16, from Yemen: Hameed is very thankful to have the opportunity to live in the United States as an exchange student and is excited for his year "as an American" in which he will gain a better view of the world. Hameed enjoys sports and plays on a soccer team, but also enjoys the sciences and hopes to become an engineer one day. He plays chess and cards and believes in being a good friend to others. Hameed comes from a close family with a very strong relationship. Hameed hopes to volunteer in the United States and learn more about American culture. Hameed is a YES SCHOLARSHIP WINNER and does not eat pork. (Yemeni boys are not to be placed in homes with teen girls, according to the YES program. They need to be placed in English-speaking homes.)
