In December 2017, Jamal Qamhan, a Yemeni American businessman opened his new place on Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, RotiMax. RotiMax, a bakery specialized in offering traditional Yemeni-style bread, sandwiches, and juices.

Prior to that, Qamhan used to operate gas station business in Arkansas. When he was in Dearborn, he witnessed the heavy presence of Mediterranean bakeries offering Lebanese recipes. He went to Yemen and gained experience in the bakery business and came back to the U.S. to execute his business idea. In Ramadan, he’s promising his customers to offer them Suhoor or late supper with the traditional Yemeni recipes which include Lahooh, “Light bread”, the Yemeni Mahalabiah ‘the custard’. The restaurant will also offer the freshest juices.

When you visit RotiMax, you are welcomed to a spacious bakery that overlooks Michigan Avenue. Qamhan tells the Yemeni American News “We’re trying to replicate the same experience you would have in a Yemeni city like Ibb or Taiz where you can enjoy the delicious Yemeni dishes for breakfast and supper as well as the freshest healthy juice.” The bakery is at 14430 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, MI 48126 and will open late during the month of Ramadan between 3 pm and 4 am.
